For your enjoyment and excitement, I am offering a stunningly beautiful hard to find Violet Gray glazed piece of Rookwood history. Famous for being the longest employee at Rookwood from the late 19th century through the mid 20th century, Menzel worked his way up from the potters wheel to the annals of art decorator before he retired. This is not a production line pot. This darling was both thrown and glazed by the artist himself, as indicated by the center swirl and cipher. There is very little non production pottery known in this already hard to find glaze. I occasionally see this glaze misidentified as Bengal Brown. It is in exceptional original condition inside and out, standing seven inches tall and three inches across the rim. Carefully wrapped and double boxed. Questions and clarification are always welcome.
