Vintage Art Nouveau "solid gold shell" miniature coin purse with attached chain

This item is a vintage Art Nouveau miniature coin purse likely dating from the Victorian era, sometimes referred to as a "dance purse". The case is marked "Solid Gold Shell" an uncommon vintage mark indicating it is not solid gold but a higher gold content than "gold filled". It features spring 'loaded coin holders and a larger compartment for a dance card or cash. The BVE mark identifies this piece as an original American made piece. It is engraved with the initials MVS, the initials of the original owner, my grandmother.
