Vintage parrot serving platter made by Penn China. Popular in 1930’s-1940’s. It is approximately 11.75 inches long and 9 inches wide.
An interesting platter featuring a colorful parrot on a swing. The colors of flowers, greenery, the parrot and the swing seem bright on the platter. The blue ring painted in approximately 1.5 inches from the edge shows some irregularity.
The off white plate itself shows much wear. There is crazing across the entire surface of the front and back of the platter. No crazing can be felt, it’s under the surface. There are areas of discoloration of across all surfaces that does not clean off. All of the imperfections are visible in the pictures.
There are chips on the edges of the platter as shown in multiple pictures. On the back surface there are several surface cracks you can feel but they don’t go through to the front of the platter. There looks like possibly a silver strip went around the outside edge of the platter that is pretty much worn off. The little divots every 1.5 inches are part of the platter.
Sold as is. Condition is very old and because of its age, discoloration, crazing and chipping is frequently found in China. Please review all pictures as they document the above imperfections. Please ask for more pictures if needed before purchasing.
