I love Native American art and Jewlery. It’s never mass produced and trying to determine the value and the details of the piece. I feel like A detective. I also love it because it’s beautiful! ⭐️ Now to this lovely necklace. Here is my research’s as a note, I have not done any testing.
This necklace is a vintage Santo Domingo heishi necklace, a style of Native American jewelry handcrafted by artisans from the Santo Domingo Pueblo (also known as Kewa) in northern New Mexico.
Heishi Beads: The core of the necklace consists of heishi, which are small, disc-shaped beads. These are traditionally made by hand-drilling and shaping small squares of cream-colored shell until they are smooth and uniform.
• Materials: This piece is a classic southwestern design featuring white shell heishi interspersed with turquoise nuggets, vibrant coral or spiny oyster beads, and detailed sterling silver beads.
• Cultural Significance: These necklaces predated silverwork among Pueblo artisans and were historically highly prized by both men and women for use in ceremonial dances and celebrations.
Similar vintage and museum-quality pieces are often sold through specialized Native American jewelry galleries and vintage marketplaces.
• Price Range: Depending on the age, artist, and quality of materials (such as the weight of the turquoise or the type of coral), similar necklaces typically range from $330 to over $1,200.
