1940s Vintage 5 Gallon Metal Gas Can w/Handle Auto Advertising Collectible This was found on a shelf in the barn next to my Tennessee farmhouse that Tom T. Hall owned in the early 1980's. It has lots of patina and is a great addition for any collector. brand: Shell / Esso measurements: 17" height w/handle, 11.5" d color: yellow condition: very distressed with lots of patina. I am leaving it as is because I do not want to hurt the integrity of the vintage piece. It has natural age/patina/wear, and I am leaving it up to the buyer to clean up if they desire. SO MANY people want the can in its original condition, so I have only wiped it gently with warm water, then dried it. I did not scrub it, so it could look a lot better without some of the dust.
