1910 advertising booklet titled “The Voyage of the Velvokins”, produced by the Chattanooga Medicine Company of Chattanooga, Tennessee. This illustrated promotional booklet was created to advertise Velvo Laxative Liver Syrup, a patent medicine marketed for digestive health. The booklet features whimsical characters called the “Velvokins” along with poems written by noted author Carolyn Wells. Inside are illustrated story pages, advertisements for Velvo and other Chattanooga Medicine Company products including Thedford’s Black-Draught and Cardui, a musical “Velvokin Lullaby,” and instructions for making a Velvokin doll. These small advertising storybooks were distributed by druggists in the early 1900s and are now collectible examples of patent medicine advertising ephemera.
The booklet shows age and handling consistent with early 20th century paper ephemera. Some wear to cover including some separation / tearing where it is attached to the binding. No major rips or tears to pages noted. See pictures for further details on condition.
