A Sacred Symbol of the Southwest
The Zuni Corn Maiden is one of the most revered figures in Native American culture, representing the "Mother of Life" who brings the gift of sustenance to the people. These earrings, hand-carved by Gloria Chattin, capture that spiritual essence in vibrant Red Spiny Oyster Shell.
Each shell is selected for its natural color and then hand-etched with traditional motifs. The artist has inlaid small "power dots" of Turquoise, Lapis, and Coral to represent the cardinal directions and the blessings of nature.
