Carhartt Shirt Size M Faded Gray Long Sleeve Hit Graphic Tee Distressed Workwear

This carhart short says its a small on the tag but asking my 2 teenage sons and my husband, they say it looks like at least a medium, if not large. Please see photos for measurements. The front has pulling in a band going diagonal across the chest. Maybe from a seat belt?? That's what it looks like anyway. I don't have a little apparatus to remove the pilling or I would. The "Carhart" in orange on the sleeve is also cracked/ worn looking. No holes or tears though.
