A charming antique flower brooch dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian era, circa 1880s–1910s. Five large oval faceted purple glass paste stones are set in individual open-backed brass collet settings, arranged as petals around a decorative four-leaf center with a small central stone accent.
The warm brass metal shows beautiful age patina consistent with over a century of history. The reverse features the original C-catch pin closure — the style used before safety clasps became standard — a reliable indicator of genuine antique age.
Purple and violet hues were beloved in Victorian sentimental jewelry, and the pansy/flower motif carried meaning: in the language of flowers, pansies symbolized remembrance and loving thoughts.
