This item is an antique Bohemian glass tazza, or compote dish, likely from the early 1900s. It is characteristic of Moser-style art glass, often featuring intricate reverse intaglio engraving where the design is carved into the back of the clear glass and then filled with gold gilding.
Key Features
* Design: The piece features a 10” wide, shallow bowl decorated with a gilded floral motif and a lattice border. It stands just over 7” tall.
* Technique: It utilizes gilded reverse intaglio, a labor-intensive method where gold is fired onto the surface and then detailed.
* Origin: While many pieces like this are unmarked, they are frequently attributed to Bohemian makers or the Moser company from the Czech Republic
*Please note: This piece has some minor flaws in the gold gilding. See pictures for details.
