Vintage Last Rights Crucifix Sacrament Set From the 1960’s

This vintage Sacrament set is from the 1960's NEVER USED AND IN ORIGINAL BOX. Beautiful and very detailed. Made of wood and celluloid Jesus. It has a slot in the back for hanging on the wall when not in use. When the Priest arrives to give the Sacrament to the sick person, it can be laid on a table and the cross slides off and gets mounted upright on the base (which has two holes to set candles in). There is a secret compartment that is revealed when you slide the crucifix off that is for storing the candles and Holy Water. Comes with 2 candles, Holy Water glass bottle and a pamphlet telling you what to do when the priest comes. It is 13" X 7 1/2" X 1 1/2" Thick. Excellent condition A real conversation starter! Rare to have the Holly Water vessel. They are used by priests to administer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick when they come to “call” or visit someone who is seriously ill and homebound. While the sacrament was originally only given to those who were dying, it can now be given to anyone who is facing a serious illness or surgery, as well as the elderly. While some collectors have come across sick call sets dating back to the 19th century, sick call sets likely existed long before. In the early days, before people had access to hospitals, sick family members were cared for in the home. A sick call set was therefore quite common in many Catholic homes.
