Beautiful vintage Wedgwood decorative plate featuring Piazza di San Pietro (St. Peter’s Square) in Vatican City. The detailed sepia transferware scene shows St. Peter’s Basilica, Bernini’s colonnades, and the central obelisk, giving it a timeless European look.
Crafted in England at the Wedgwood Barlaston works, this mid-century cabinet plate has a classic fluted rim and neutral tones that work perfectly with traditional, vintage, or modern décor.
The plate is ceramic and features "crazing" (fine cracks in the glaze), which is common for its age. ®
• It was distributed under the auspices of the Archbishop of Boston to benefit children in need.
• The plate features historical markings from Wedgwood's Etruria and Barlaston factories.
• It is approximately 10.5 inches in diameter.
Artist: Giovanni Battista Piranesi (Italian, Mogliano Veneto 1720–1778 Rome)
