This hand blown MCM art glass vase was made using a 17th century Murano technique called Aventurine glass. It involves the delicate process of mixing metallic particles (copper, chromium, or iron) into molten glass, creating a glittering effect as crystallization takes place during a very slow cooling process - overheat or cool too quickly and the crystals dissolve and the piece is ruined. Is this piece actual Murano or just made in Italy? Unfortunately, that is unknown. The style, perfection of the shape, and smooth base point to the answer "yes" but no sticker or mark exists. Price reflects this uncertainty.
Measurements: 6" tall, 7 1/4" at the rim, 3" at the base.
Lake New Condition: no chips, cracks, or signs of use.
