Vintage Sterling Silver Red Coral Cabochon Teardrop Dangle Earrings Artisan

Handmade sterling silver dangle earrings with what I believe to be natural red coral (see note below), bought directly from the artist in the Florida Keys in the 1990s. One of a kind. A smooth silver disc hangs from the French hook wire, dropping into a large teardrop shape with hand-stamped floral designs and a bezel-set oval cabochon at the center. Deep, warm orange-red stone with a smooth, waxy feel. Richer in person than photos can show. STONE NOTE: Originally listed as carnelian, re-evaluated as natural red coral. The stones are fully opaque and waxy, not translucent and glassy like carnelian. The color is a solid warm red, not the see-through orange-red of chalcedony. The maker was a Florida Keys silversmith where coral was a signature local material. Vintage natural red coral in handmade sterling gets harder to find every year.
