This 1940s Mexican embroidered jacket is a wearable piece of folk art — hand-stitched, richly dyed, and covered in detailed scenic embroidery depicting rural life, agave plants, figures, and colorful textiles. Unlike simpler tourist jackets from later decades, this one is densely embroidered front + back, with large narrative scenes and decorative whipstitch trim along the collar, pockets, front, and cuffs. The bright red wool base makes every color pop, and the lightly gathered shoulders give it that signature mid-century silhouette. Patch pockets, flared cuffs, and beautiful hand finishing throughout.
