Van Dell Vintage 12K GF Semi-Precious Stone Scarab Necklace - Like New

Gorgeous excellent condition vintage Van Dell yellow gold-filled Egyptian Revival Scarab necklace. Features brushed leaves and swirls with assorted beautiful carnelian, Jade -and Tiger eye carved semi-precious stones or glass cabochons. Each link is fashioned in the shape of a scarab beetle, a popular motif in Egyptian Revival jewelry. 16 inches long. Marked Van Dell 1/20 12k GF Van Dell mark means this piece is a highly collectible mid-century creation from a prominent American jewelry manufacturer. The Van Dell Corporation was founded in 1939 in Providence, Rhode Island. They were famous for making high-end "simulation" fashion jewelry designed to mimic fine jewelry. Their scarab pieces are among their most iconic and sought-after items. Gold Filled means a thick layer of real 12k gold was mechanically bonded to a base metal core. This layer is much thicker and longer lasting than standard gold plating, which is why this vintage necklace still looks bright and has not worn over time. I was given this necklace as a gift from a relative, so it is mid 1990s. I didn't care for the style at the time, so I never wore it, or maybe wore it once. It has been in storage in my jewelry box.
