Mid Century Vintage ‘Blendo’ Yellow Frosted Glass Cocktail Pitcher It’s part of the "Blendo" glassware line produced by West Virginia Glass Specialty Co. in the mid-late 19th century. In the 1960s, Blendo really hit its stride, attracting popularity and attention with their proprietary "fired-in Ceramic Color Decoration" process, which created the signature colored ombre effect that Blendo is recognized for. Due to the popularity and durability of Blendo glassware, its rare to find a set that has maintained and preserved gold as it has usually worn off or chipped away over the years of use. Today, it's the condition and presence of that gold detail that largely determines the rarity and value of your Blendo glass. Lucky me, this has GREAT GOLD on the pitcher!!!! See pics! Another great detail to note about Blendo is the "cattail" handle on the pitcher - notice at the top of the handle the glass curves inward and actually never reconnects with the body of the pitcher, creating a cattail-like look. The 40 oz pitcher has a retro, bulb-like shape with a small footed base and tapered opening at the spout. Handle comfortably and easily fits in your hands.
