The sherbet glasses feature a distinct, heavy pressed glass design, often characterized by a diamond or gothic-style pattern. These short-stemmed footed cups typically measure 3.5 to 3.75 inches in height with a 3-inch to 3.5-inch diameter. During the 1950s, the Big Top Peanut Butter brand packaged its product inside these decorative, heavy pressed-glass containers. They were topped with a metal lid. The company deliberately designed the packaging to be washed and reused as a permanent part of a household's glassware collection after the peanut butter was finished. This specific shape was marketed as a footed sherbet or dessert dish. Hazel Atlas also distributed this exact design to retail stores as standard tableware under the pattern name.
