Vintage-Antique Guatemalan Wedding Rope Necklace and Avon Filigree Earrings

Vintage to antique Guatemala wedding necklace is extra long (70"). Loop it around your neck once, twice, or three times to create different lengths and styles. This intricate chain harkens back to a tradition that dates to the Spanish colonial times. The necklace would be used to "lasso" the bride and groom together, then the necklace would be presented to the bride afterward. This necklace is heavy gold plate over copper. Unmarked since these have been made for centuries. It's clearly hand-wrought, with an intricate pattern of interlocking twisted links. The earrings are Avon “Precious Pretenders” gold tone button clip on with filagree accents from the front 1970s era.
