From the manufacturer: This classic Tiki mug design is based on the hand painted Tiki featured on the mainsail of Thor Heyerdahl's Kon Tiki raft. The raft served as the vessel that carried Heyerdahl and his companions in 1947 across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian Islands. The original raft is now on display in the Kon Tiki Museum in Oslo, Norway.
