This hand-turned, hand-carved lidded wood jar comes straight from Taxco, Mexico — the colonial artisan city famous for its craftspeople — and the quality shows in every carved line.
Warm honey-toned wood, lathe-turned into a round-bodied canister form with a fitted lid and ivory ball finial. The body carries bold folk art relief carvings: Mexican eagles, floral motifs, and an Aztec geometric band encircling the shoulder. A Greek key border runs the lid rim. Four ivory bun feet on the base. "MEXICO" and "TAXCO" carved directly into the wood — not a label, not a stamp. Built-in provenance.
Excellent vintage condition — no chips, no cracks, lid fits well. Interior smooth and clean. 4.5"H x 4"W. A natural for an eclectic maximalist shelf, a global decor vignette, a boho bookcase, or anyone who collects pieces with a real story behind them.
Every piece has a past. Find yours. — Sarah / The Storied House Co.
