1950’s - 1980’s Vintage Southwestern / Native American-inspired hand-stamped copper cuff, featuring the turtle (Mother Earth/protection) motif with zigzags, sunbursts, and geometric patterns. The “CC” mark on the inside edge is consistent with mid-20th century trading post or workshop production.
Central Turtle:
• Represents Mother Earth (or Grandmother Earth), longevity, protection, stability, patience, and good health.
• Turtles symbolize a deep connection to the land, self-reliance, and perseverance. In Navajo and other Southwest traditions, they are sacred and associated with water and life in arid regions.
• Zigzag / Lightning / Chevron patterns (flanking the turtle):
• Often represent lightning, rain, or energy paths. Lightning brings life-giving rain in desert cultures and symbolizes power, speed, and spiritual force. Zigzags can also evoke mountains or journeys.
• Arrowheads / Triangles:
• Symbolize direction, protection, alertness, and strength. Arrows point toward goals or ward off negativity. They are common protective motifs.
• Sunburst / Circle motifs (visible in earlier photos):
• Represent the sun, life, energy, warmth, and renewal.
• Border stamping (ribbed/serrated edges):
• Decorative traditional techniques for framing sacred symbols.
