This small hardbound book has held its story together for over ninety years, even as time has worked on the binding.
Big Little Book #750, published by Whitman in 1933, was the first Mickey Mouse book in the Big Little Book series. It reprints the daily Mickey Mouse newspaper comic strips by legendary Disney artist Floyd Gottfredson that ran from May to November 1932, following Mickey as he recruits a crew and sails across the sea in search of buried treasure. A different 1935 softcover edition was also distributed as a Kolynos Dental Cream premium. At roughly 3.75 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches thick with a total of 192 pages, the format itself was groundbreaking for children's publishing in the 1930s: small, thick, with text on the left pages and illustrations on the right.
A piece of early Disney ephemera, sold in rough reader-copy condition for the right home.
