Up for sale is a beautiful vintage tin-glazed earthenware tile from the renowned Royal Tichelaar Makkum factory in the Netherlands, the country's oldest active ceramics maker. This exquisite piece features a classic, 100% hand-painted Dutch Delft maritime scene of a sailing ship/galleon on the water, complete with traditional scrolling corner motifs. The back features the official impressed Royal Tichelaar factory mark (crown over intertwined monogram), dating the piece from the 1960s or later. It also features the handwritten painter's initials "GM" on the left. Condition: Good vintage condition overall with bright glaze and beautiful crisp details. There are minor, typical flea bites / tiny glaze flakes along the unglazed outer edges, which is standard for handmade Dutch earthenware of this era and adds to its authentic charm. There is a small spot of candle wax (?) on the upper portion of the front glaze (visible in photos). No structural cracks or major repairs.
