THE STORY
Before there was Pinterest, there was this binder sitting on every American kitchen counter. First published during the Great Depression, the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book grew into the best selling cookbook in the country, and this is the edition that started the look everyone remembers: the red and white gingham cover with the iconic teapot and spoon silhouette.
This particular copy is a true First Edition, Ninth Printing, dated 1953 on the copyright page and stamped "Every recipe triple tested by our Tasting Test Kitchens staff." It still has its original five ring patented "Turtle Back" binder spine, its color coded chapter tabs, and the pink illustrated divider pages that made the book so easy to use at the counter.
"Meals you'll serve with pride to your family and friends."
