This is an absolutely stunning 1930s liquid satin wedding gown. It features an Italian quilted embroidery technique called trapunto which gives the embroidered areas a raised, dimensional look by way of stuffing. You can find this technique all along the curved cathedral train, and on the front and back of the waist panel. The dress also features bishop sleeves that taper to points at the wrist and boast covered buttons, pleated shoulders and bodice, and Basque waist with gathered bust. The dress closes on the left size with a metal zipper. It is unlined. The fabric is rayon.
The condition is very good for the age. It has one small light spot on the front of the skirt about halfway down, a scuffed area on the skirt, and discoloration under the arms. All are pictured. It was a custom made dress so there are no labels. This was sourced in Lenoir, NC.
