This African metallophone, crafted between 1950-1975, features metal keys, calabash resonators, and a hand-built wooden frame. Its authentic design embodies rich cultural heritage, likely from south-central Africa.
This instrument is like a balafon, but uses metal keys. It is more likely to have been used as an actual instrument rather than made for tourism.

• Hand-built wooden frame - some repairs that came as is with the estate (estate was in Carefree, Arizona)
• Approximate dimensions: 16 inches length
• Includes two mallets (the rubber tips need replaced)
Calabash resonators show wear but work; overall structure intact. Top to bottom = 7 iinches at tallest side.

Wear on calabash resonators, minor structural repairs. some of the keys can ring dull unless the calabash gourds are moved a bit. Those are the smaller ones toward one end. This is in vintage preowned condition. Please look at all photos carefully.
