In the early 2000s, Jen Parrish-Hill of Parrish Relics became known for making polymer clay and wax-cast amulets inspired by historical periods. Signature pieces from this era included Anne Boleyn initial necklaces and custom Venetian stained-glass window amulets. Her Anne Boleyn piece famously became America Ferrera’s signature relic in the television show Ugly Betty.
Parrish Relics is best known for small-batch, sculptural, and historically inspired designs. Pieces frequently feature the following elements:Pictorial Shrine Amulets: Tiny, Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic-era paintings (like those by Sir Edward Burne-Jones) set beneath a glass cabochon in hand-painted, antiqued silver or gold clay.
This piece is one of her early pieces from the early 2000s and it’s made of an antiqued hand-painted clay window which frames an ephemeral found image- detail of psyche opening the golden box by John William Waterhouse. Adorned with 3 black tourmaline beads.
I bought this piece at a Fairy Festival.
