Late Victorian 14K gold insect brooch set with a natural topaz body (per auction-house catalog), a natural sapphire head, approximately 0.60 ct of old European-cut diamonds, and rose-cut diamond eyes. The following is from the catalog of the auction house that I bought this cute little guy from: ‘Mounted in 14k yellow gold, the body is set with an orangy-yellow topaz, measuring 17mm × 8mm × 4.7mm, and a round blue sapphire, measuring 4.20 mm x 4.20mm, wings set with old European cut diamonds, total estimated diamond weight 0.60 ct, eyes accented with rose cut diamonds. Overall weight 5 gm. Condition: Limbs slightly asymmetrical, otherwise very good.’
