A fragment of something larger, now complete in its own right. This French ormolu clock remnant was once part of an ornate mantel clock, where it likely framed a porcelain portrait or decorative medallion. The original clock base has already found a new home, but this upper pediment remained—too beautiful to discard and too sculptural to overlook. Mounted on a classical figural stand, the piece now reads as a small decorative monument: part architectural salvage, part trophy, part unfinished frame. Delicate laurel-like leaves encircle the opening, while the gilt surface catches the light with remarkable warmth and depth. Details • French ormolu clock fragment mounted on figural stand • Gilt metal construction • Likely mid-20th century • Opening approximately 2.25” across • Overall width approximately 4.5” • Overall height approximately 8.5” • Base diameter approximately 2.5” Condition Very good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with previous use. Minor surface variations and subtle patina are present and contribute to the character of the piece. The former clock components are no longer present, and this object is offered as a decorative salvage fragment.
