This early Americana Egyptian Revival Cleopatra costume represents a major fashion movement sparked by the discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. Rather than being historically accurate to ancient Egypt, these costumes blended ancient motifs with the distinct geometry, drops, and draping of 1920s Art Deco style. Fully Hand sewn Gold Lame or Lurex Silk Velvet Silk Satin Lining Hand sewn Crystals and sequins This gown has been worn and was purchased at an estate sale in Seattle. There wasn't much history given about the origins of the dress unfortunately. Other than it belonged to the sellers great grandmother. Due to the extreme age this gown and that it has been worn there is signs of aging and some missing sequins and crystals. It does not detract from the beauty of this gown. It can be worn with care for photographs. The ideal model would be 5'2-5'4" and a size XS or XXS. I am pretty sure people were miniature back then. Dramatic gold evening gown with vibrant turquoise and red silk velvet embellishments. Fitted bodice with beaded straps and turquoise stones. Flared skirt with ornate velvet appliqués and scattered turquoise and emerald gems. Elegant train with matching trim. A true Statement showpiece for any collection.
