Vintage Russian Finfit Hand-Painted Enamel Pillbox Locket Necklace & Earring Set

Darling pieces of history dating from the 1960’s-1980’s. These pieces are examples of a traditional Russian craft known as Finfit, which involves hand-painting enamel onto metal plates (typically nickel silver or sterling silver) and firing them multiple times to set the colors. Most Finift jewelry originates from Rostov, Russia, where this unique enameling technique has been practiced since the 18th century. This set features a classic floral design and is framed with delicate metal filigree. These rectangular pendants open at the top, allowing them to be used as miniature pillboxes or perfume/scent holders. Locket measures 1.5” x .5” with a secure hinge and is on a 26” silver chain. Matching earrings measure .75” and are designed for pierced ears. They showcase the same red enamel and floral design alongside the ornate filigree. Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition.
