Exceptional and highly sought-after antique Roman Catholic reliquary rosary featuring an intact third-class monastic relic of Saint Dominic. Unlike common pilgrimage souvenirs that hold catacomb soil, this specific structural cross hinges open to reveal an incredibly preserved piece of holy history. The internal capsule features its original, crisp paper parchment label reading "Lignum arboris S. P. Dominici" (translated from Latin as "Wood from the tree of our Holy Father Dominic"), alongside an intact, undisturbed wood sliver relic. This directly commemorates the legendary orange tree planted by St. Dominic himself around the year 1220 at the Basilica of Santa Sabina in Rome. Documented as the very first orange tree brought into Italy, descendants of this sacred plant are still cultivated at the convent cloisters today. Historically, small cuttings from these holy branches were meticulously gathered to create these capsule relics for devout pilgrims visiting Rome. Crucifix Size: 1.5 inches long (approx. 3.8 cm) Silver plated brass. Front Design: Detailed silver-plated Corpus of Jesus Christ set beautifully against a dark wooden inlay background, complete with the INRI banner. Reverse Stamping: Clearly stamped with the authentic "ROMA" manufacturer mark. The Chain: Formed with traditional, smooth oval brown wood prayer beads on a secure metal link chain. Condition: Excellent antique/vintage condition but missing screw "lock". Hinge opens smoothly
