fralees@jioneill71 material is more of a think cotton but not thin sweat material, not jean material. Waist measurement laying flat is 15.5 inches. Pants do have a zipper & button front closure with a adjustable tie to make them smaller if needed. Super cute and comfy perfect for fall. Please let me know if you have additional questions
