This was given to me in the 60's or 70's. It was never actually used as a piggy bank.
Beginning in the 1950s, Anchor Hocking produced a selection of glass piggy banks, with three different sizes and in either amber carnival glass or clear carnival glass. The 1950s were a time for frugal savings, with many other companies soon manufacturing similar coin banks. Our pig has a little gold coloring throughout.
Our amber bank is the middle size, at 4.5" long by 9" in circumference around the middle. From his curly tail to his little pink snout, our bank is in good condition. Look at the photos carefully. Few pigs have survived because of the unfortunate problem that you have to smash the bank to get your saved money out, since there is no hole in it.
