An absolutely spectacular 1950s Lilli Ann of San Francisco skirt suit with the kind of dramatic tailoring that made the house famous. Cut in a sophisticated light stone-gray/beige wool, this two-piece set has a beautifully sculpted, almost architectural silhouette — strong shoulders, a nipped waist, long fitted skirt, and one of the most incredible jacket fronts I’ve seen. The jacket features an undulating scalloped closure edged in piping, four sets of fabric-covered buttons connected by narrow rouleau loops, a rounded collar, curved hip panels, and a whimsical asymmetrical flap detail at the bust. Even the back is beautifully constructed with sweeping diagonal seams that emphasize the hourglass shape. The matching slim skirt completes the quintessential mid-century silhouette.
