Handcrafted clay thumb pot with glossy olive-green glaze. widely known as a watering bell or chantepleure. It is an ancient style of watering vessel that dates back to the Middle Ages and utilizes basic air pressure principles to control the flow of water. Dimensions: 4 in. Diameter x 4 ½ in. HeightHow it works: Submerge the pottery bell into water until it fills. Place your thumb securely over the top hole to create a vacuum seal. Lift it over your plants, and lift your thumb slightly to release a gentle, controlled rain shower over sensitive seedlings. Fill it up: Submerge the entire pot into a bucket or deep bowl of water. You will see air bubbles rise as it fills up from the bottom.Seal the vacuum: Once it is fully submerged and filled, place your thumb firmly over the single hole at the top neck.Transport safely: Lift the pot out of the water. As long as your thumb completely covers the top hole, a vacuum is created inside that prevents air from entering. Surface tension will keep the water locked inside the pot without leaking from the bottom holes.Water your plants: Hold the pot over your target plant and simply lift your thumb. Air will rush in, releasing a gentle, low-pressure rain shower that is perfect for delicate seedlings and small houseplants because it will not wash away or disturb the soil.Stop the flow: Press your thumb back down on the top hole to instantly seal the pressure and pause the rain.
