It will wedged higher up in the trapezoid shape, causing it to stick out significantly from the top and preventing the bag from closing.

reznijAt the very bottom, it’s 11” wide by 3.5” deep. The “wings” on the side of the bag expand it to 14.5” at the bottom to almost 16” at the top. I thought it might be helpful to take a photo of a book in the bag. This book measures 11x9. Not sure if your laptop’s measurements but should help you decide if it will work. Hopefully I can attach photos here
