Pentti Sarpaneva Silver-Tone Brutalist Owl Series Necklace

Pentti Sarpaneva pendant from the Owl collection. I believe this is pewter coating another magnetic metal as it responds slightly to a strong magnet. The chain has no clasp and is 27" long and the pendant is very detailed and beautiful featuring two owls atop an intricate nest. No makers marks or other markings but the back has signs of sand casting, which authenticates its mid century origin. This sand cast is a defining characteristic of Brutalist design.
