The lightweight beads are crafted from a base material wrapped tightly in fine silk or satin threads, which creates their characteristic textured, shimmering pinstripe appearance. I don't know if these are actually wrapped in real silk thread. The describing term of "silk" is left in title and description because it's the most commonly used word to search for this type of necklace. These are truly shiny thread wrapped on a plastic bead. These are older they, could have wear, spots, soiling, loose threads and could have a vintage smell. In my opinion they don't have a strong smell but everyone has different tolerances.
