Rare antique Ford’s Ozonized Ox Marrow Co. Hair Presser No. 028, manufactured in Chicago, Illinois. This unusual early hair-straightening tool is marked “OZONIZED OX MARROW CO. CHICAGO ILL.” and features the original aged wooden handles and metal pressing mechanism. Historical advertising from 1917 identifies the Ford’s Hair Presser No. 028 as part of the company’s line of hair-straightening products and tools. The Ozonized Ox Marrow Co. was known for its Ford’s hair pomade and specialized hair-care products marketed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A wonderful piece of African American hair-care history and early beauty-tool history, and an especially interesting addition to a collection of antique barber, beauty, cosmetology, or Black history memorabilia. Condition: Antique/original condition with substantial age-related wear, oxidation/patina, surface discoloration and wear to the wood handles.
