A charming, rare set of vintage mid-century modern anthropomorphic skunk salt and pepper shakers produced by Napco (National Potteries Company).
This highly collectible duo features the iconic style of 1950s Japanese ceramic imports, stamped with the authentic model production number K2293 on the unglazed bases. They showcase a striking high-contrast visual design, blending a matte black body with a glossy, heavy crackle texture (crazing) glaze on the white sections. Each skunk features its original, brilliant amber rhinestone jewel eyes and hand-painted bright yellow accent details.
Condition:
The shakers are in good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, structural breaks, or past repairs. As is common with mid-century ceramics featuring cold-painted details, there is some minor paint loss and flaking on the black sections (please review the close-up photos carefully). The rhinestone eyes remain tightly set and vibrant. Stoppers are missing.
Perfect for adding a touch of quirky, kitschy retro charm to a farmhouse kitchen, open shelving, or an established mid-century novelty shaker collection!
