The Pampered Chef Stainless Steel Boil Control Disc Pot Watcher Anti Boil Over

Nice pre-owned The Pampered Chef Stainless Steel Boil Control Disc. This stainless steel boil control disc (also commonly referred to as a pot watcher, boil alerter, or milk guard) is placed flat at the bottom of a cooking pot before adding liquid (such as milk, water, pasta, or potatoes) to prevent the liquid from boiling over. As the liquid heats up and begins to boil, small vapor bubbles get trapped under the disc. This causes the disc to rattle against the bottom of the pot, creating a loud chattering noise that alerts you that the liquid is boiling. The concentric ridges and the small notch on the edge break up the large rising bubbles, releasing the steam gradually and disrupting the foam blanket that usually causes liquid to boil over the sides.
