Vintage c.1930 Copeland Spode Blue Italian Hygienic Cheese Dish / Keeper Wonderful early Copeland Spode covered cheese keeper in the iconic Blue Italian pattern. This unusual Hygienic form features a slant-sided removable cover with decorative molded handle and a matching pierced base designed to provide ventilation. Beautiful blue-and-white transfer decoration depicts the classic Italian landscape surrounded by elaborate floral borders. Marked underneath COPELAND SPODE'S ITALIAN ENGLAND, with an additional impressed Copeland factory mark and blue number 19. Measures approximately 7½" L × 6" W × 4" H assembled. Good vintage condition with age-related wear. Blue Italian transfer decoration remains strong and displays beautifully. There is crazing, areas of age-related discoloration/staining, minor rim wear, and a few small surface scratches/utensil marks on the base consistent with age and previous use.
