Beautiful vintage natural history display featuring 10 real preserved butterfly specimens mounted inside a deep wood and glass shadow box. The centerpiece is a large iridescent blue Morpho butterfly, surrounded by an assortment of colorful tropical butterflies in yellow, red, orange, blue, green, black and cream. The dimensional mounting allows the butterflies to sit naturally with raised wings rather than being pressed flat. The clear-backed display gives the piece a light, floating appearance and lets the colors change beautifully depending on lighting and viewing angle. Measures approximately 12" tall x 8½" wide. Vintage wood frame shows minor age-related wear. IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTE: There is dust/debris visible on the inside surface of the glass. The shadow box construction can be taken apart for cleaning, but because the preserved specimens are delicate, I have chosen not to open or clean the interior.
