This is a plastic lug / ring, it’s meant to cover the metal triangle lugs / rings that are on the side of the camera, usually meant to hold the neck strap on. These plastic covers go over top of the triangle shaped metal lugs to protect them from damage. They simply snap on and off, easy application and removal!
