Antique 1916 portrait postcard featuring an elegant woman smelling a rose, with an elaborate period hairstyle, decorative headband and ornate dress. A beautiful example of early 20th-century romantic portrait and women’s fashion imagery. Postmarked Lockport, New York, November 8, 1916 and addressed to Nellie M. Widrig at City Hospital in Lockport. The handwritten correspondence includes the poignant message, “So sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope that I can get to see you soon. Yours sincerely, Gertrude E. Widrig.” Reverse is marked “Artistic Heads for hand coloring No. 905” and bears the T.P. & Co., N.Y. publisher mark.
