Antique WWI Era US Navy Eagle Anchor Uniform Buttons Set of 4 Waterbury

This is a set of four antique US Navy uniform buttons in the eagle and fouled anchor pattern, the standard design worn on Navy peacoats and dress uniforms through the first half of the twentieth century. The set includes two coat size buttons and two cuff size buttons, likely pulled from the same uniform. Three carry a Waterbury Button Co Conn backmark with a gold color backing, and one carries a Scovill Mfg Co Waterbury Conn backmark with a silver color backing, two of the primary Connecticut manufacturers supplying Navy uniform hardware in this era. The block letter Waterbury mark places manufacture sometime between the early 1900s and 1943, and the eagle’s orientation on the front reads as the earlier style used before the 1941 design change, so these likely date to the WWI era into the interwar years.
