Vintage Mexico Male Female Rearing Horse Sculpture Equestrian Decor Ivory Resin

A male and female pair of rearing horses posed face-to-face, their raised forelegs meeting in a dramatic interaction that can be interpreted as playful or courtship behavior. Made in Mexico and molded “MEXICO” along the front of the base, the sculpture has a warm ivory/cream finish with beautifully modeled details throughout—from the muscular bodies and expressive faces to the flowing manes and tails. The monochromatic finish gives the piece the appearance of carved stone or ivory while allowing all of the sculptural detail to stand out. The material appears to be a cast resin or stone-composition material, commonly used for decorative Mexican sculpture during the later 20th century. The horses could be interpreted as sparring, playing or almost dancing together, making this an especially appealing piece for an equestrian collection. Wonderful displayed on a bookshelf, console, mantel or collected tabletop. Its neutral coloring works beautifully with traditional, Western, English country, equestrian, rustic and eclectic interiors.
