A rare "Fois Bois" (False Wood) masterpiece by Oisín Kelly RHA (1915–1981), one of Ireland's most celebrated 20th-century sculptors. Produced for the Kilkenny Design Workshops (KDW) circa 1965-1975, this vase is a pinnacle of Irish Modernism. While many examples are found in lighter tones, this piece features the superior "petrified wood" glaze with a deep, organic matte brown that highlights Kelly's sculptural mastery. About the Artist: Oisín Kelly was a renowned sculptor and member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. Best known for his monumental public works, including the Jim Larkin statue on O'Connell Street and "The Children of Lir" in Dublin's Garden of Remembrance, his tenure at Kilkenny Design Workshops brought fine-art sensibilities to ceramic form. This series represents his exploration of organic, brutalist textures in a functional medium. • Markings: Kilkenny "K" stamp & "Republic of Ireland" • Condition: Exceptional vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Oisin Kelly RHA, Kilkenny Design, KDW Ireland, Brutalist Pottery, Fois Bois, Irish Modernism, Studio Pottery, Petrified Wood, Royal Hibernian Academy, 1960s Art Pottery
